Debra is a native of Huntington, New York and has worked diligently in the arena of Domestic Violence to raise awareness and educate many. Debra moved to the Charlotte area in 2005 and has a long history of community service in the nonprofit arena. Debra has volunteered on behalf of battered women in Charlotte by serving on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Domestic Violence Advisory Board, the Domestic Violence Interfaith Committee, the board of Beauty For Ashes Ministry and on the Executive Board of Pearls for Creative Healing, a nonprofit organization that raises the awareness of domestic violence and provides a platform for healing through the arts. In her own words, “serving on various domestic violence boards and committees allowed the freedom of expression that released the stigma of being a VICTIM of Domestic Violence and allowed me to become a VICTOR and not just a Survivor".
